At first I began with 3 boarders, however I felt almost intimidated, not because I felt that I couldn't teach the children, but rather because I felt that my communication wouldn't be strong enough to teach the children what they needed to know, or that they would interpret the words differently to what their teacher was saying. Basically I was/am worried that I would/will confuse the students more. After only two sessions, I am surprised at how much my students have improved. It shows that they are really focuses so far on improving their weaknesses, which is at this moment Biology and Core Math.
I chose to do tuition in Biology, Chemistry and Core Math because I felt that science tutoring in boarding would be popular, even though if not some then most of the boarder's strengths lie in the direction of science and math. Biology is sometimes a weaker subject for the more mathematical-focused people as compared to Physics with lots of math the the logic of Chemistry. However, if a person is good with memorisation, then Physics and Biology will be understandable, while the logic behind Chemistry may be difficult for the students to understand with the little memorisation that is in the subject.
The other Yr 12 boarders are covering other subjects such as English, Drama, Math, Physics, etc. therefore covering each other's weaknesses and to split the children up between the 7 of us. We knew that the tutoring in the boarding house for free would be popular, as it is difficult to find a tutor that will come up to the boarding house and teach there in such a public area as well as it being hard for the boarders to sign out and go to tutoring during the week and the weekend.
One of the boarders that I have to tutor I don't like, so I think lessons with him in the future will be challenging, especially when I am under high levels of stress or am emotional at the time. I tried to do a double lesson with him and another girl in his year, however I didn't work out so well because:

- I had to explain things the girl that was already done in the lesson before with the boy
- He was being rather annoying when I allowed him to leave and he decided to stay, eating cereal without milk rather loudly, distracting me from helping the girl
- There were two other tutoring sessions going on in the same room at the same time, so I think that I didn't explain things very well because I couldn't think properly.
